Position Overview:
The Public Relations Manager will be responsible for managing and enhancing the reputation of UTE by developing and implementing strategic public relations campaigns. The role requires a skilled communicator to work across media, stakeholders, and internal departments to promote the university’s brand, achievements, and academic offerings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Media Relations:
- Develop and maintain relationships with local, regional, and international media outlets.
- Write and distribute press releases, media advisories, and other communications to increase media coverage.
- Respond to media inquiries and manage crisis communication when necessary.
- Strategic Communications:
- Create and implement comprehensive public relations strategies aligned with the university’s goals and mission.
- Develop key messaging for internal and external audiences, ensuring consistent and accurate communication.
- Coordinate with other departments (Admissions, Alumni Relations, Faculty, etc.) to ensure alignment of messaging and PR initiatives.
- Content Creation:
- Oversee the creation of high-quality written content for publications, including the university’s website, newsletters, social media, and other communication channels.
- Ensure content reflects the university’s values, achievements, and brand voice.
- Manage the production of promotional materials such as brochures, annual reports, and multimedia content.
- Event Management:
- Organize media events, press conferences, and university-related public events (seminars, conferences, open days, etc.).
- Manage logistics, coordinate media attendance, and ensure proper coverage of events.
- Serve as the point of contact for media at university events.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, alumni, corporate partners, and the local community.
- Represent the university in public forums, conferences, and community events.
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure effective communication with students, faculty, staff, and parents.
- Crisis Management:
- Develop crisis communication plans and protocols.
- Work proactively to manage any public relations issues and mitigate potential risks to the university’s reputation.
- Provide counsel to senior leadership in handling sensitive issues.
- Social Media & Digital Strategy:
- Oversee the university’s social media strategy to increase engagement and enhance the university’s online presence.
- Create social media campaigns and track performance metrics.
- Monitor online sentiment and manage the university’s digital reputation.
- Reporting & Analysis:
- Monitor and analyze media coverage and public sentiment regarding the university.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly reports on public relations activities, media coverage, and campaign performance.
- Use insights from media monitoring to adjust strategies and improve future initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in public relations, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in public relations or communications, with a proven track record in media relations and strategic communications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Khmer.
- Experience in crisis communication and issues management.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of digital marketing and social media platforms.
- Strong interpersonal and networking skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in the education sector, particularly in a university or academic environment.
- Creative thinking and ability to adapt strategies to different audiences and platforms.
- Experience in content creation, graphic design, or multimedia production.
