Position Overview:

The Public Relations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the public relations team at UTE. This role involves supporting the development and execution of communication strategies, managing media relations, and ensuring the university’s message is communicated effectively to all key audiences. The PR Supervisor will work closely with faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders to promote the university’s image and support its institutional goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Team Supervision:
    • Supervise, guide, and mentor a small team of PR professionals, interns, or assistants.
    • Allocate tasks and monitor progress to ensure timely delivery of PR campaigns and initiatives.
    • Foster a collaborative and creative working environment within the PR team.
  2. Media Relations:
    • Assist in the development and execution of media relations strategies.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with local, regional, and international media.
    • Monitor media coverage, track media inquiries, and ensure accurate representation of the university in the press.
    • Draft press releases, media alerts, and other communication materials for media distribution.
  3. Content Creation & Communication:
    • Write and edit compelling content for university publications, websites, social media platforms, and newsletters.
    • Assist in creating and updating university brochures, annual reports, and promotional materials.
    • Ensure that all content aligns with the university’s tone of voice, brand guidelines, and key messages.
  4. Event Coordination:
    • Support the planning and execution of media events, press conferences, and university public events such as conferences, open houses, and seminars.
    • Coordinate event logistics, invite media representatives, and handle media inquiries before, during, and after events.
    • Help manage post-event reporting and media coverage.
  5. Social Media & Digital Communication:
    • Contribute to the development of social media campaigns that increase engagement and promote positive university news.
    • Track and report on social media metrics to assess the impact and effectiveness of PR campaigns.
    • Assist in managing the university’s online reputation and digital presence.
  6. Internal Communications:
    • Ensure effective internal communications to staff, faculty, and students regarding university initiatives, announcements, and events.
    • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure alignment and consistency of messaging.
    • Provide guidance to faculty and staff on best practices for public-facing communications.
  7. Crisis Communication:
    • Assist in the management of crisis communication efforts, helping to mitigate negative publicity and protect the university’s reputation.
    • Work closely with the PR Manager and senior leadership to handle sensitive issues and ensure that appropriate messaging is delivered.
  8. Reporting & Analysis:
    • Assist in preparing reports on the effectiveness of public relations campaigns and media coverage.
    • Track and analyze media mentions and public sentiment to identify trends and improve future PR strategies.
    • Maintain a media contact database and a record of public relations activities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in public relations, media relations, or communications, with experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Khmer.
  • Solid understanding of media relations and public relations best practices.
  • Experience in writing press releases, speeches, and other communication materials.
  • Proficiency in social media management and digital platforms.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various internal departments and external stakeholders.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in the education sector, particularly in a higher education or university setting.
  • Knowledge of crisis communication and issues management.
  • Creative skills in content creation, including graphic design or video production.
  • Experience with PR tools or media monitoring platforms.
